Mohs Surgery

Mohs Micrographic Surgery is the most advanced and effective treatment for skin cancer available. Mohs Surgery has a proven cure rate of 99% for the majority of Skin Cancers, far superior to any other form of treatment available. Dr. Lipscombe performs Mohs surgery on a regular basis at The Skin Hospital in Darlinghurst.

The Skin Cancer is removed, rapidly analyzed, and reconstructed all in one session, all on site.

This ensures complete removal of cancer and minimizes the amount of skin needing to be removed, thus leaving the smallest hole possible.  The end result is the full removal of cancer with the smallest scar possible.

Mohs Surgery is recommended for BCC and SCC skin cancers:

  • On high risk sites such as the nose, ears, lips, eyelids, fingers and genitals
  • Have recurred following previous treatment
  • Occur within scar tissue
  • Have edges which are difficult to see
  • Have aggressive features on biopsy analysis such as:
    • Morphoeic BCC
    • Infiltrative BCC
    • Micronodular BCC
    • Perineural Disease
