Mohs Surgery

Mohs Micrographic Surgery  is the most advanced and effective treatment for skin cancer removal. Using rapid pathology testing, Mohs surgery has a 99% cure rate for the majority of Skin Cancers, and is regarded as a superior alternative to other available treatments.

Dr Tasman Lipscombe performs Mohs surgery on a regular basis on site at  Sydney Day Hospital at 187 Macquarie Street, Sydney.

Mohs surgery ensures the skin cancer is removed, rapidly analyzed, and reconstructed all in one session, all on site!

Ensuring the complete removal of cancer, and minimizing the amount of skin needing to be removed, this leaves the smallest defect (hole) possible. The end result is the full removal of cancer, with the smallest scar possible.

Mohs Surgery is recommended for BCC and SCC skin cancers:

  • Located on high risk areas such as the nose, ears, lips, eyelids, fingers and private areas
  • Which have recurred despite previous treatment
  • Occurring within scar tissue
  • Have poorly defined edges which are difficult to see
  • Which have aggressive features on biopsy analysis. Such as:
    • Morphoeic BCC
    • Infiltrative BCC
    • Micronodular BCC
    • Perineural Disease
